SEMERU ADVENTURE

MY JOURNEY
BY: ADAM WIBOWO
Hello all my friends. Thanks for this opportunity. Allright, here I want to tell you about a parts of my life. It is about my unforgetable experience.
I have many hobbies. One of them is hiking or climbing. I have climbed some mountain in Java. And last year on the exact month November, I tried to reach the highest peak in Java, Mahameru or the top of mountain Semeru. It is located in Malang, East Java. its need about 3 days to reach Mahameru. So I requested annual leave to my manager 5 days. And Alhamdulillah my manager fulfilled my requestation. I went to semeru with my friends, three from Solo, one from Jakarta, and one from Malang. So there were six persons. Heri, Wahyu, Bayu are from Solo. Arul is from Jakarta. And Sonny is from Malang. Heri, Wahyu, Bayu and me waited for Arul in Solo.
We went to Malang from Solo by train. We departured from Balapan station on Saturday, November second. And sonny waited for us in Malang. We arrived in Malang at 6 am. We had breakfast. And then we continued our journey by mini bus to Terminal  Arjosari. There, we met Sonny. We happy sonny to joined us. Then we continued our journey to Tumpang. We arrived in Tumpang at 11 am. We bought things what we needs. Like foods, aqua, medicines, gass, and so on. Then we continued to Coban. There were not  public transportation from Tumpang to Coban. So we had to rent a Jeeb. After from Coban we went to Ranu Pane. There were ojek From Coban to Ranu Pane, but we had to walk about 2 km to get it.
We arrived at Ranu Pane at 1 pm. Ranu Pane is the last village we can reach by motorcycles. Here, we registered our team. We submitted our requirements. we had lunch and praying in Ranu Pane. And then we continued our journey by on foot. We started our hike. We walked10.5 KM to the beautiful RanuKumbolo lake where we had our rest near the lake. We set up tents near the lake. We had dinner and taking a rest.
I got up in the morning. I saw a beautyfull scene. Where the sun shined on the lake. After having a breakfast we climbed the steep Love Slop or TanjakanCinta. After climbing TanjakanCinta, our eyes were entertained with a sea of lavender flowers. That  time was not lavender season. So the colours were black. But we were in awe. This area is called Oro-Oro Ombo. After passing through this amazing scenery, we found ourselves inside a huge pine tree forest (CemoroKandang). After we successfully passing through the pine tree forest, we found ourselves in Jambangan. It is called Jambangan because this area is like a flower vase full of flowers. And finally at 4:00 PM, we reached our camping site, Kalimati. Overall, we have walked 19.5 km by then and was exhausted. We ate our dinner and slept in our tents.
Alarm woke us up at midnight to prepare for our journey for the day. We started our journey at 1:00 am. We crossed a rather steep forest toward Arcopodo which is a vegetation border where we have to walk in the sand.  I noticed that in several corners of the forest, there were memorials for those who passed away when attempting to climb the mountain. My friend told me that most people died either because of being hit by stones. Finally, I reached the vegetation border at 3,000 mdpl. That is when the challenge moved up several levels because we had to walk uphill in the slippery sand. Five steps seemed like 2 steps because my feet continued to slip downward.
Finally I reached the summit at 3,676 mdpl. This is the highest land in the Java island. I reached the summit at 04.25 o’clock. I cried when reaching the summit. There I saw a beautyfull scenery. Sun rised on the ocean of clouds. Once we reached there, for a moment we forgot all the difficulties that we have gone through. I really enjoyed the view other mountain such as bromo, putri, arjuno wirangun. I  were able to hear the sound of “wedhus gembel” very clearly and see how the wedhus gembel was vomited from the mouth semeru. That was very amazing. There was very cold. My friend brought thermometer. And it was 2 derajat celcius. After satisfied taking photos, we went down. Semeru is a mountain fulled with stories, memories, efforts, tears, and everything.
That was my wonderfull journey. It will be unforgettable experience in my life. Thanks for your attention.

THANK YOU
